She says I need more sunshine.

It keeps spirits up.

Balance, healing—

morning is best.

So, I try

at the lake.

Sipping coffee

on the deck.

A pink sky

over treetops

on Grand Island.

But Astro the Husky

licks and scratches.

Traffic has started

on US-23.

And it’s colder

than I’d hoped.

I’m about to give up

when a cardinal

lands

in the big,

unruly cedar.

Foggy clouds roll

across the water.

Spider web threads

billow in the breeze.

And bright dewy drops

on grass blades

catch the light.

And I feel it.

Another moment

topside,

while the world

spins,

wobbles

on an invisible axis,

and a dog hair

drifts up

then down

into

my cup.
